A letter from CEO Vince Van Heukelem:
In 1947 my grandfather, Wendell Van Heukelem, began what is now Colorado Hardscapes as a one man operation known as Van Heukelem Concrete. Many sidewalks and curbs and gutters in and around the Denver Metro Area bear the Van Heukelem concrete stamp to this day.
After working with my grandfather, my father Calvin took over the company and expanded it into decorative concrete and rock work. With a unique vision for the company and skilled, loyal employees, the company grew from a few crews to six divisions of true craftsmen producing award winning cast-in-place concrete. Cal's vision culminated in the creation of Colorado's first Concrete Design Center in 2001.
Today our concrete services for commercial and residential clients have expanded to include:
Bomanite (imprinted or stamped concrete)
Lithocrete
Sandscape Texture (acid-etched concrete)
Artificial (faux) Rock Features
Natural Rock Features
Fountains
Water Features
Porous (pervious) Paving
Grasscrete
Pavers
Like my father, I grew up in the company and after training and working as an engineer I came to work for Colorado Hardscapes in 1999 and I became CEO in 2003. Besides being proud of the fact that I am a third generation leader in a thoroughly modern company, I am tremendously proud of the reputation Colorado Hardscapes has as a leader in the concrete industry.
The integrity and vision of my grandfather and my father have been infused into every aspect of CHI and it is my intention to carry on these values as we continue to expand into new and innovative territories.
It is my hope that you will partner with us as we realize the possibilities within the concrete industry and within ourselves.
Sincerely,
Vince Van Heukelem
