To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased to provide a reference for the above named company. The elephant exhibit renovation, mostly consisting of rockwork by Van Heukelem, was completed in April of 1989. This was the largest and most expensive single project to be undertaken in the building of the new zoo.

I do not believe it to be necessary to elaborate on all of the areas of work and interaction. I can say without reservations that this was the best I have ever been associated with form any contractor at any time. Things went without a hitch from day one until completion. The finished product is as good as it gets. The Van Heukelem crew worked totally without friction with the zoo staff, subs, and vendors. There were no problems with anything.

One area of special note is change orders. The drawings for this project were fairly sparse. Creative details were left to the contractor. I asked for substantial changes and deviations from the original drawings on several occasions after work had begun. In each instance the contractor responded quickly, courteously, and creatively but not expensively. The project had no overages. The net result was just what we anted.

Please contact me if further information would be needed.

Sincerely,
Lee Sims
