Client Need:
The designers of the Arboretum at Copperleaf housing community came to Colorado Hardscapes knowing they wanted a reactive stain floor in their common area. The floor would serve many purposes, one of which would be a dance floor. They needed a finish that was durable and easy to maintain/clean.
Solution:
The project unfolded here in the Colorado Hardscapes design center where the samplings were done. Once a leaf design was chosen Colorado Hardscapes sandblasted the pattern into the four designated locations on the floor. The designers initially wanted just a reactive stain floor, but after sampling they decided that they wanted a more dramatic color contrast. In the end they chose integrally colored microtopping that was stained with reactive stain.
Results:
The Arboretum at Copperleaf now has their signature leaf, copper in color, embedded in a durable mixed-use floor. The vividly colored floor has a marbled appearance. To keep the floor from being too reflective, it was finished with a matte wax.
