Client Need:
The developer needed a mix of hardscape finishes that would reflect the upscale design and luxurious materials used in both the exterior and interior of the residence. The hardscapes surrounding the tower had to be functional and durable, but above all, beautiful. And they needed to harmonize with the finishes on the adjacent retail property which included CHI's Capitol Hill Sandscape Texture™. Both the pool and Jacuzzi deck needed an elegant but durable surface, and the entire property was to be highlighted by exquisite custom water features.
Solution:
Three of CHI's Bomanite® imprinted concrete patterns were selected to coordinate the drives, walks, pool decks and even some curbs. A special challenge was addressed in the herringbone patterned circle drive. Mesa Buff colored broom finish bands were inserted into the design to cleanly connect the circle driveway and main drive that leads into the parking garage. The color and texture of these bands matched the walks surrounding the planter and fountain areas, as well as the circular drive. The Bomanite® imprinted curb and gutter was a special detail that enhanced the paving in the driveway and served as an elegant border for the Mesa Buff colored walkways surrounding it.
The outdoor living space around the main pool was accented by custom benches in CHI's Sandscape Texture™ in Capitol Hill. Surrounding the pool is a Bomanite® Colorado Sandstone textured deck in Colorado Buff. The fourth floor Jacuzzi deck mirrors the main pool color palette but was imprinted with the Heavy Slate texture mat.
CHI's Water Feature division took on the challenge of creating three unique water features for the property. From the landscape plans, CHI completed the mechanical design and installation of a jetted fountain in the circle drive, along with a radius waterwall with ten streams of water on one side and a waterfall edge streaming down into a poolside basin.
Results:
CHI was able to go above and beyond to meet the accelerated schedule and finish the complete hardscaping by their Grand Opening. When the owner expressed concern that the finished Bomanite® color was slightly lighter than what was envisioned, CHI was able to make the adjustment using a tinted sealer to deepen the color and bring it into the perfect color range.
The fountains on the property are one of a kind and are sure to provide the residents with tranquil places to relax. With its 20 jets, lights and custom cut wave-pattern granite blocks, the circular fountain takes mainstage when approaching the tower. Quartzite tiles line the waterwall and adjacent basins, tying the colors of the traditionally-designed fountains to those throughout the property.
The fine details and the quality of materials used throughout the landscape provide a luxurious outdoor retreat for all residents of the Landmark Tower.
