Client Need:
At this 3,000-acre, master-planned community in southwest Parker the developer envisioned pre-cast concrete monuments throughout the development. However, the cost of the pre-cast monuments was not within budget, and the distinct look the designer wanted was difficult to find.
Solution:
Colorado Hardscapes worked with the developer previously on The Breakers and Palomino Park projects, and they called on us once again to work on this process with them. CHI worked with carpenter Doug Buys to produce forms to cast the monuments, and then tested ways to treat the concrete to achieve the desired effect.
Results:
After the concrete was formed and placed CHI sandblasted and Micro-ToppedŽ the structures. This process is about one third the cost of custom pre-cast pieces. The clients were so pleased with the result that they authorized 26 monuments with the possibility of up to 300.
