Client Need:
The design team needed to create a rock feature to match the Valmont Butte geologic rock feature near 63rd Street, which was being rehabilitated. They needed a team that could carve and color an artificial rock face over the structural wall to match the desired Valmont Butte sample.
Solution:
The design/build experience of Colorado Hardscapes allowed us to use highly detailed architectural shotcrete to not only match the Valmont Butte sample, but also include the structural soundness and planter features required.
Results:
The 320 linear foot wall is over 30 feet high. The artificial rock face was anchored to a soil nail and shotcrete structural wall, and then finished with anti-graffiti coating. A bike and pedestrian path runs along the front of the rock feature, and planters are integrated into the rock feature.
