CASE STUDY INDEX
Client Need:
During the 2009 athletic complex expansion at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO, the architectural firm Aller-Lingle-Massey looked into flooring options for the lobby and hallway of two buildings. The university asked for an upgraded finish that would connect with the school colors of green and gold.

Colorado Hardscapes offered a variety of options for the owners and designers to choose from, including colored and troweled concrete, colored and polished concrete, or stained and polished concrete. Other options that were considered were tile, epoxy terrazzo, and carpet.

Chris Freeland and others at Aller-Lingle-Massey, along with university personnel, honed in on flooring options embedded with colored glass. After reviewing several samples, they selected a Bomanite Revealed finish with Sand integral color and three shades of green crushed glass. The R & D department at Colorado Hardscapes developed two generations of mock up samples to ensure the desired look was achieved.

Colorado Hardscapes technicians installed 2000 square feet of the Revealed as a “wet on wet” topping on a three inch concrete slab installed over a sub-slab. The Revealed was subsequently sawcut and polished to create the final look. Sand colored silicone filled the bevel-cut joints.

The gold color derived from the cement and sand matrix along with the green crushed glass fits well with the school colors. The Revealed installation provides a durable, attractive floor.
