Client Need:
A floor that looked weathered and antiqued in a newly constructed office.
Solution:
Colorado Hardscapes used the Patène Artectura® reactive stain system to color the floor. This system colors the floor and brings out the inherent character of the concrete. First, the contractor poured the floor and finished it with a hard trowel finish. The floors were then protected from major damage for three months while other trades worked to get their part of the construction completed. The floor was protected enough that it could be treated with the reactive stains, but the hard-trowel finish and some wear added to the character or the mottled look. No control joints were cut in the floor so that it would crack.
Results:
Auburn color was used and the variegated look is typical and expected of this coloration system. The cracks from the lack of control joints helped to achieve the patina look.
