Client Need:
Nestled in Western Colorado, Centennial Park emerged from the small town of Rifle. This park was designed by Design Concepts and Constructed by ECI and is rich with history and life. The goal was to create an interactive park that the town can be proud of and share their history. Design Concepts first approached Colorado Hardscapes in the early design stages of this park with ideas of an interactive stream-bed and sun dial.
Solution:
Colorado Hardscapes worked closely with the Landscape Architect to work out finishes, colors, and details for these features. The stream-bed, fed by Rifle Creek, is made up of vary etches of Sandscape Texture in a warm earthy tone. This feature encourages kids to play in the stream-bed in a controlled yet interactive manner. The sun dial, with the same rich colors, provides seating, education, and even acts as a platform for children to perform. Colorado Hardscapes also placed the decorative concrete and walls around the amphitheater, stage, and splash pads.
Results:
As seen at the Grand Opening of the park in September of 2010, the park is a success. Children explore, climb, and learn throughout the artistic features. The town is proud of their heritage and Design Concepts did a great job portraying the town’s history through this unique park. |
