CASE STUDY INDEX
Client Need:
The City of Lone Tree had a special challenge: they needed a sculpture base and architectural detail for 2 bronze sculptures from the fairy tale The Fish Monger's Tale.

Solution:
CHI created one of the specialty projects for which we've become known. Specially installed and colored Bomanite® imprinted concrete provided a base for the sculptures, and our experience carving rock features allowed us to use concrete to craft the castle ruins that complete the scene.

Results:
The checkerboard base took a few steps to achieve. The base color is a Colorado Buff with Shale Gray release. The crews textured the entire slab using English Sidewalk Slate texture mats. The checkerboard was then saw cut in, leaving an 8" band around the perimeter. Alternating squares were then stained to achieve the final look. Other details to note are the bullnose edge of the slab and a mow strip along the bottom edge so the landscape crew won't chip any edges. The castle ruins are also made of concrete and simulate granite and limestone. The sculptures were bolted down to the slab to avoid theft. The project sits outside the City of Lone Tree library.
