CASE STUDY INDEX
Client Need:
Mundus Bishop Design and GH Phipps first approached Colorado Hardscapes in the early design and budgeting phases for the artificial rock work in the new Children’s Garden. The idea of bringing the Colorado’s Rocky Mountains into the city was unique and intriguing. The different aspects of the parking deck, budget constraints, and design potential immediately made it an opportunistic challenge for them, one which they were eager to accept.

Solution:

The work Colorado Hardscapes performed at the Mordecai Children’s Garden includes the rock work and Sandscape Texture flatwork at Marmot Mountain and Pika Peak – the focal point of the garden. Colorado Hardscapes provided these features to the Botanic Gardens through execution, uniqueness, innovation, safety, and cooperation.

Results:

On Monday, August 16th, 2010, songs from the Colorado Children’s Choral drifted through the airy peaks for Marmot Mountain and Pika Peak, a sweet little girl named Olivia named and met the garden’s mascot “Digger”, Janet Mordecai expressed her gratitude, and Brian Vogt cut the ribbon to announce the opening of Denver Botanic Garden’s Mordecai Children’s Garden. Children and adults alike flooded through the doors and began exploring the terrain and mountains in the heart of Denver, Colorado. Watching the children explore Marmot Mountain and Pika Peak with awe-filled wonder marked a job well done by Colorado Hardscapes.
