CASE STUDY INDEX
Client Need:
For the newest casino in Black Hawk, the design team wanted to match the rustic feel created with the interior tile and the rock façade of the building, while the construction team needed an experienced contractor to install structurally sound sidewalks and a driveway with a radiant heat system. Both teams also needed a contractor to do an interior rock feature for a focal point connecting the upper and lower floors.

Solution:
CHI installed Bomanite® imprinted concrete with a radiant heat system for a structurally sound driveway area, and then colored each of the "stones" in the pattern to match the tile on the interior of the casino. The general contractor, PCL, could work with fewer sub-contractors because CHI could also do the artificial rock feature needed between the escalators.

Results:
13,000 square feet of Bomanite® imprinted concrete, accented with the Patene Artectura coloration system, was placed at the casino's valet parking/drop off area and the front entry and patio of the building. The steps at the entrance are stained with reactive stain. The majority of the 8000 square feet valet area was poured 3" thick with a radiant heat system over a structural slab. The Large Ashlar Slate pattern was used in the drive areas and the Boardwalk pattern along the building for walking lanes. Each individual stone was colored separately for the look of real stone. A custom designed, hand-carved rock feature was placed between the escalators.
