CASE STUDY INDEX
Client Need:
The Tavern Lowry restaurant (upstairs) and the Soiled Dove Underground nightclub (downstairs) had two separate needs for this project. The restaurant wanted a hard surface floor that would be relatively low maintenance. While remaining practical, they also wanted the interior and exterior concrete surfaces of the restaurant to be as similar as possible, and to tie everything together, the color and textures of the floor needed to complement the other finishes within the restaurant. The nightclub also wanted a practical, low maintenance hard surface floor for the bar area, seating areas, and dance floor.

Solution:
For the restaurant, concrete floors with special aggregate were used. For the interior, they ground down the floors to fully show the coarse aggregate, yet it is still a smooth, easy to clean floor. The exterior used the same exact concrete mix design but with an exposed aggregate finish so that the outdoor eating/patio area was compatible with the interior floor but with a texture that makes it a safe, slip resistant finish appropriate for use outdoors. The nightclub floor was also concrete. Sawcut score lines and multiple colors of stains were used to achieve the desired look.

Results:
The results of both areas are attractive, low maintenance floors that fit well aesthetically with the theme and finishes of the space.
