Thousands of People Walk All Over Colorado Hardscapes at 2000 Parade
August 10, 2000
Colorado Hardscapes is proud to be the concrete installer at Prairie Sol, Cuttermill Custom Homes’ featured house at the 2000 Parade of Homes at Tallyn’s Reach in Aurora.

The concrete paving at this home takes on a different look than the traditional stamped and textured concrete seen at many of the other Parade homes. “We wanted to use the organic approach of Frank Lloyd Wright, where all the design elements tie together,” said Archstyle, Inc.’s Kathy Eichelberger Jones, the architect on the job. “The practicality of the hard surface for the decks along with the visual expansion of the lines and colors on the exterior of the house lent itself to this style. I can’t say enough good things about the quality of the workmanship that Colorado Hardscapes provided, as well as the professionalism of their people,” continued Jones.

Prairie Sol’s exterior paving incorporated saw cuts leading to colored 6” squares that pull the color of the house trim down to the walk area and out to the flowers in the landscaped areas—a chic understatement to the subtle look of utilitarian gray concrete. This look adds a touch of class to the front entry without detracting the observer from the clean lines of the ranch style home and the quiet beauty of the oriental Koi pond. The subtle paving pattern is repeated in all upper areas of the house, lending continuity to the entire exterior. The concrete paving for the lower walkout level in the back of the home includes straight-lined control joints, without the colored squares. These decorative details are another example of cost-effective ways to enhance paving projects.
