Colorado Strikes Gold at Colorado Hardscapes' Concrete Design Center
January 21, 2002
Denver, CO - Colorado struck "gold" on January 17, 2002, at Colorado Hardscapes' grand unveiling of Colorado's first Concrete Design Center. The theme of the evening was "Colorado Strikes Gold," complete with a rock feature built by Colorado Hardscapes with a vein of "gold" running through it. From 3pm until 7pm, 130 clients, designers, architects, engineers, property managers, and business associates stayed for an hour or longer, inspecting the displays, enjoying the food, and networking with associates.

Cal Van Heukelem, owner of Colorado Hardscapes, drew door prizes after the event. Carol Wassenaar of A.G. Wassenaar, Inc. and Todd Fackler of Management Specialists, won the book Colorado 1870-2000 by W.H. Jackson & John Fielder; Darrell Hogan of The City of Aurora and Pat Bergin of Aggregate Industries won Denver Nuggets tickets; and Galen Van Kooten of Por-Mor won a DVD Player.

Colorado Hardscapes moved into the new facility at 8085 E. Harvard Ave. in Denver, Colorado, last September. Responding to the ever-growing marketplace for decorative concrete, Colorado Hardscapes transformed the former medical space into a 14,680 square foot Concrete Design Center. The Design center includes office spaces, conference rooms, a plan room, a model-making studio and and a sample-making bay. Decorative concrete was installed in the lobby (floor and countertop), a portion of the conference room, and in a huge open space that houses hundreds of samples, a concrete table, a rock feature, and cross sections of rock work. Outside a stream was built to run in front of the building to the concrete courtyard.

Much more than mere office space or a show room, the Concrete Design Center is intended as a meeting space for clients and designers, for presentations, and for association meetings and functions. The space is also intended as a place to display the latest in decorative concrete stamping, staining, stenciling, walls, and rock work. In addition to all of the work already done to the site, plans for the courtyard include a rock waterfall and putting greens.

Colorado Hardscapes' Concrete Design Center is open to the public Monday thru Friday from 7:30am until 4:30pm, and the courtyard and outside samples can be viewed at any time. For a guided tour an appointment is recommended and can be made by calling 303-750-8200, or e-mailing: sales@coloradohardscapes.com.
