Physically challenged children and other children alike finally have easy access to their playground at the Creative Options Center for Early Education. The center is located at 2180 South Hudson, in Denver, and is one of several children's centers run by Cerebral Palsy of Colorado.
Thanks to the selfless efforts of Stan Peters, Marketing Engineer and representative for Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association and Colorado Rock Products Association; Cal Van Heukelem, owner of Colorado Hardscapes, Inc.; and David Gray, Marketing Manager for Aggregate Industries, there is now a beautiful sidewalk leading from the back door and from a side access door directly to the playground equipment. Prior to the completion of the sidewalk, children in wheelchairs and walking devices had to be pushed through gravel to access the playground. Stan Peters organized the collaborative effort and the three groups ultimately donated twice as much as originally agreed to. The generous donation of labor and concrete came to nearly $1,600.
Steve Quintana of Q and V Enterprises also donated $500 of excavating services to prepare the ground so the sidewalk could be poured. Steve has been in the excavating business for over 18 years and is a local firefighter.
Creative Options Center for Early Education serves children of all abilities, birth to five years old. Children at the center are thrilled with their new sidewalk and offered their thanks to Stan, Dave, and Cal during a recent visit to the center.
