Front Range Village

Front Range Village
Fort Collins, CO

Front Range Village, the newest lifestyle center in Ft. Collins, CO at 4401 Zeigler Road, continues the upscale hardscape features that the partnership between Hoar Construction and Colorado Hardscapes exemplifies. The project highlights not only the attention to detail as seen in the decorative saw cuts, but also the overall aesthetic appeal that the stained Sandscape Texture bands give to this project. In addition to the 109,716 SF of gray broom-finished concrete and required ADA ramps, this job also features walls with sandblasted leaves, Bomanite® stamped concrete and curbs at planters. All of the special finishes are the result of multiple meetings at the Colorado Hardscapes Design Center with the developer, architect, owner, general contractor, and Colorado Hardscapes.

Denver Zoo's Elephant Feeders
A truely unique project, thanks to the partnership of the Denver Zoo and Colorado Hardscapes the elephants have a more enjoyable eating experience.

 Grasscrete®

Grasscrete®, a Bomanite® product, is an excellent product for pervious concrete specifications. As a void form concrete system, Grasscrete® allows water to pass through the concrete slab and into the gravel sub-base, meeting requirements for stormwater detention, first flush filtration systems, and for ground water re-charge, while meeting requirements for strength and durability that have been difficult to achieve with pervious concrete.
Test reports indicate the following about Grasscrete®:
  • Load Test: 66,000 lb.
  • Grumman Fire Truck: ladder extended 100 ft. at 90 degrees with 800 lbs. in basket and outriggers extended. Soil was fully saturated.
  • Equivalent load on outriggers: 208,700 lbs.
  • Maximum deflection: .065 inches Permeability Test: Different soils and rainfall were tested, percolation through Grasscrete® is about equal to control sample with no concrete.

  • Grasscrete® offers an added bonus in today’s “green” environment. It can utilize a self-consolidating concrete made with up to 85% recycled materials. The most recent version of Grasscrete® formers are made of paper pulp molded to create the desired void structure. After the installation, the pulp formers are fully biodegradable.
