Discovery Canyon Campus, Colorado Springs
Academy School District 20 wanted a courtyard that breathes life into scientific concepts. Chris Coulter, executive director of construction for the school and his father, scientist Dr. Gary Coulter, went to Colorado Hardscapes’ Design Center to explore how decorative concrete could show stratified earth layers, water, molecules, DNA strands, and other scientific ideas in concrete. The inspiring visit showed them that using concrete with aggregates, concrete stains, and sandblasts could realize their vision. |

CSU Transit Center, Ft.Collins, CO
An intricate floor was designed for Colorado State University's transit center in Fort Collins. The floor needed to live up to the designer's vision and handle the heavy foot traffic of the center. Stained concrete allowed a floor that is both durable and beautiful to be created for the center. |

Gateway Park at Wolf Ranch, Colorado Springs
A truly monumental water feature was needed as the focal point for a new development. Colorado Hardscapes worked designer Nuszer Kopatz and MGA Structural Engineers to build a dream water feature. Colorado Hardscapes' work included the pond, mechanical elements, plumbing, and pumps. CHI was also able to do the sidewalks and steps surrounding the feature in the very complementary Sandscape Texture finish. Today a stunning water feature greets homeowners at the entrance to the Wolf Ranch Development. |

Retail Water Features
Gone are the indoor malls of yesteryear. These days shoppers want more of a retail "experience" complete with beautiful sidewalks to stroll on and fountains to sit and enjoy under the Colorado sunshine. These retail experiences aren't even called "malls" anymore, but rather "lifestyle centers."
These lifestyle centers also include water features as part of the landscape. Colorado Hardscapes has installed multiple features at such retail hot spots as Briargate in Colorado Springs,
The Promenade Shops at Centerra in Loveland, Northfield at Stapleton, and most recently at Southlands in Aurora (photos above). Smaller water features also grace other retail establishments such as Flatiron Marketplace and Aspen Grove.
Most of Colorado Hardscapes clients know that we do custom concrete paving, but few of them realized that we could complete the water feature for their project as well. In fact, we do artificial rock features, natural rock features and water features. Our water feature work includes all of the pump and mechanical.
If you would like to consult with someone about your rock and water feature projects, please contact MaryHelen Kanani at 303-750-8200 or email mkanani@coloradohardscapes.com.

Design Center Re-designed
While the snow fell throughout January and February this year, Colorado Hardscapes used the time to reconfigure our Concrete Design Center. Racks of new samples of Bomanite finishes, Sandscape Texture finishes and integral color finishes were added along the interior walls so that our most popular finishes are always on display.
Two photo galleries for in-progress and recently completed jobs were also added to give visitors a visual of what is currently happening in concrete. A new computer station with depiction software allows visitors to see finishes on their own project, print photos to take with them, or email photos right to their own work station.
Stop in at 8085 E. Harvard Ave., Denver, CO and see what we've done, or call us at 303-750-8200 and set up an appointment with a consultant in the Design Center. |

Municipal Concrete Projects Featured in Magazine
Recently Public Works Magazine's article "Curb Appeal" featured Colorado Hardscapes' Bomanite imprinted concrete median work at Broomfield and in Golden. The article also highlighted the non-reactive stained concrete at Uptown Broadway in Boulder, CO.
The "Curb Appeal" article illustrated just some of the many ways decorative concrete can be used to beautify public spaces. |

Colorado Hardscapes has been installing Sandscape Texture™ for nearly seven years. Installations include streetscapes at Belmar, Stapleton, and the Denver Convention Center as well as numerous residential and smaller commercial projects.
In most installations integrally colored concrete has been used. Occasionally, specialty black sand has been added.
We are working on alternative ways to color the Sandscape Texture finished concrete. The R&D focus is on other specialty colored and reflective sands, the use of white or lighter colored cements, and the use of various products for staining portions of the Sandscape Texture to create more interesting and creative design options.
Stop in and see what we are working on or talk to us about how we might incorporate one of our new techniques or products in your project.
