Colorado Hardscapes served as the decorative concrete subcontractor for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science East Entry project, working alongside general contractor Haselden Construction and landscape architect META Landscape Architecture to rebuild the museum’s primary public entrance.
Our crews self-installed the full scope of concrete work on-site, including 16,999 SF of uncolored Sandscape®, our premium version of sand finished concrete, 4,060 SF of broom finish, and 2,380 SF of ground concrete bands that define the plaza’s layered surface pattern. Structural and site elements included 438 LF of planter walls, 122 LF of seat walls, 807 LF of curb and gutter, 117 LF of trench drains, 12 light pole bases, and 1,905 LF of stairs and stadium seating.
The defining challenge on this job was forming and pouring seat walls with a reverse batter on a radius, a detail that requires tight formwork tolerances and finishing crews experienced with curved concrete geometry.
The new Denver Museum of Nature and Science East Entry is a durable plaza built to handle decades of Front Range weather and foot traffic.
