Dad Clark Gulch Drop Structure

The Dad Clark Gulch Drop Structure is a prime example of how design and function can come together.

This project had a clear objective: To seamlessly tie together four drop structures, ensuring efficient water flow from one to another. Throughout this undertaking, we collaborated closely with Bemas, the general contractor, Westwood, the project designer, and Mile High Flood District.

One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the placement of nearly 50 tons of steel rebar. This amount of reinforcement was necessary for the 25,000 square feet of 10” thick concrete we were about to place. We brought Amezquita Rebar on board to assist us. With their support, we stayed on schedule and within budget.

During the construction of the largest drop structure, our dedicated team of 26 members worked tirelessly. In total, we poured 310 yards of concrete, setting a record for the company. Despite significant hurdles presented by the rainy season and challenging site conditions, we reevaluated our strategies daily, ensuring project success.

To achieve a natural aesthetic, complementing the landscape, we utilized Sandstone integral color with texture mats and troweling techniques. The result is a visually stunning drop structure that blends in with its environment.

Incorporating aesthetic value into drop structures is something Colorado Hardscapes has been doing for nearly 20 years. Therefore, we know Dad Clark Gulch Drop Structure will provide ecological and aesthetic benefits to the community for many years to come.
