Originally the Republic Plaza renovation project called for precast benches and planter walls. General contractor, The Weitz Company, requested that we submit numbers for a cast-in-place installation. After the designer and the owner looked at other benches that Colorado Hardscapes had installed, they approved moving forward with the Sandscape Refined, cast-in-place option.
Once we cast a mock-up at our Design Center and everyone approved it, our crew began working on all the details. They created the custom shapes, the reverse batter, the radii, and the channel for the lights. In total, we installed 156 linear feet of Sandscape Refined benches and 189 linear feet of MicroTop walls. The biggest challenges of this project were the difficult access and hot summer temperatures.
We learned a lot of things and in spite of the challenges, Republic Plaza is an eye-catchingly beautiful project.
