The penguin habitat at Denver Zoo now lets you experience a South African beach in your very own city!
After nine months of construction, these African penguins have a place to call home. We worked hard to replicate the rock seen in their natural environment. In addition to painting over 6,092 SF of existing rockwork, we formed an additional 2,793 SF using our shotcrete method.
The penguin habitat at Denver Zoo also includes both a sand beach and a pool with a wave generator. The wave generator, installed by others, lets visitors create waves in the pool to help with animal enrichment.
