Collaboration: The Secret to Any Successful Project

At Colorado Hardscapes, we know that exceptional projects don’t just happen—they are the product of teamwork, trust, and collaboration.

Whether through project-specific meetings, presentations, or engaging Design Center tours, collaboration sits at the heart of everything we do.

For landscape architects and general contractors, this collaborative approach ensures that every project is executed with precision, creativity, and excellence.

Why is Collaboration Key?

Collaboration isn’t just about working together; it’s about creating a shared vision and aligning everyone toward a successful outcome. Regarding decorative concrete, the design opportunities are vast—and so are the construction complexities.

Through collaboration, we achieve three essential goals:

1. Expand Creative Possibilities

Decorative concrete offers a unique blend of functionality and artistic design, so it’s important to understand its potential. By collaborating with our clients, we help them:

  1. Explore the full range of decorative concrete options, from broomed and sand finishes to specialty forms and custom stenciled designs.
  2. Understand what makes a concrete surface “decorative” and the techniques used to achieve it.

By broadening this understanding, clients can expand their design visions beyond what they previously imagined was possible.

2. Build Knowledge of Construction Details

Sometimes, the success of a project comes down to the details. What separates a good contractor from a bad one? Is it the skill level, the attention to detail, or the quality of materials? At Colorado Hardscapes, collaboration means equipping clients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions. We aim to:

  1. Simplify complex construction details so clients can identify quality work.
  2. Show the extra steps taken to increase durability and beauty in decorative concrete installations.

Our focus is always on transparency—helping clients understand the value these steps bring to their projects and why they are essential for long-term success.

3. Identify the Best Solutions for Each Project

No two projects are exactly alike—and that’s why collaboration is essential. Through open communication and shared decision-making, we help clients determine which decorative concrete products align with their budgets, timelines, and overall goals. We work closely to:

  1. Tailor solutions to the specific needs of each project.
  2. Highlight how design choices impact costs and construction timelines.

Foster trust and confidence so clients know they’re making the best possible decisions for their vision.

From Vision to Reality

Ultimately, our mission at Colorado Hardscapes is to ensure that our clients feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout the entire process.

We want them to see us not just as contractors but as partners they can trust to bring their creative visions to life.

When it comes to decorative concrete, there is no one-size-fits-all solution—which is why we work hard to deliver results that are as unique and original as the projects themselves.

Through collaboration, we’re able to tackle challenges, find opportunities, and craft solutions that resonate with the needs of every unique project.

Together, we solve problems before they arise, meet both aesthetic and structural goals, and create stunning spaces from the ground up.

Below are three projects that exemplify collaboration:

Story Wall at Adams County Veterans Memorial

DHM Design envisioned a captivating “Story Wall” featuring a photorealistic grayscale collage but wasn’t sure how to construct it. Our team launched an intensive R&D phase, exploring innovative solutions. After months of development, we discovered a groundbreaking form-liner technology capable of creating a durable, 230-square-foot photo mural on a curved wall.

Johnson Habitat Park

This enhanced park is filled with unique details that set it apart, but did you know that originally, its Lithomosaic flowers were designed to be sandblasted and stained? We suggested Lithomosaics to create a more vibrant design that would last longer and 10 years later, they still look new!

Red-Tailed Hawk Park

Sensory wall focus at park shows form finish designs and lithomosaic details

Our goal, entrusted to us by The Make-A-Wish Foundation, was to design a wall with multiple sensory elements. To achieve this, we utilized innovative materials such as custom form liners, Lithomosaics, and MicroTop, combining them to create a variety of textures, colors, and impressions. The result? An inclusive park designed for individuals of all abilities to enjoy.
